Creativity for a cause

Grab a camera and use your creativity for a cause. If the judges think you’ve snapped the perfect shot, you win a number of prizes including the opportunity to exhibit and sell your work with printing and framing costs covered!

“Show us your neighbourhood’s personality”

Regent Park Focus uses a variety of media practices to encourage youth to engage with their communities. The Spotlight Project is asking One Thousand Words participants to do the same.

Neighbourhoods are like people. Each one has its own unique character, sound, smell, taste, pace and feel. The Spotlight Project is challenging you to capture the many facets of your neighbourhood using only the visual medium of photography.

Think creatively. Think abstractly. Our judges will be looking for a powerful photo with a unique approach to the Challenge Statement.

Here’s what you need to do…
  1. Take a photo that responds to the Challenge Statement “Show us your neighbourhood’s personality.”
  2. Visit www.thespotlightproject.ca and donate $5 to submit your photo into the competition.
  3. Increase your chances of winning by submitting three photos for a $10 donation.
  4. Submit your photo through our Contest Entry Form along with your name, email address, phone number, the title of your photo and the neighbourhood or area you are photographing.
  5. Spread the word! Get your friends and family to support Regent Park Focus! Ask them to submit their own photos or to Like your photo on our Online Gallery
  6. If you are a youth participant at Regent’s Park Focus Youth Media Arts Centre, you enter for free! Please email your photo and information directly to info@thespotlightproject.ca

A little more about where you’re money is going…
