It’s fitting that Gerry Mason is a member of Sir Winston Churchill Park Tennis Club: originally from England, Gerry taught himself to play tennis using a second hand racquet and developed a vicious slice backhand that any opponent would fear.
A survivor of two wars with cancer, Gerry recently celebrated his 81st birthday and is being honored at Joy for Gerry: The Tennis Edition a fundraiser for the Canadian Cancer Society taking place Saturday September 11th from 4p.m. to 8p.m. at Sir Winston Churchill Park Tennis Club.
The event will feature a round robin for everyone who shares Gerry’s love of tennis and fun games for those who aren’t players. Tennis tips and a lesson, great food, entertainment and a silent auction will be part of the action: something to love for everyone.
Last year’s Joy for Gerry raised over $2000 and hopefully, this year’s will top that figure.
